Have you ever been stuck between a rock and a hard place? I’m talking about so stuck that the carpet you’ve soaked with your tears has become one with your skin and your body has forgotten it was not designed to be in a tight ball of fears?
Let’s get real. Life can be TOUGH…but it can also be beautiful; exquisitely, painfully beautiful.
As my prayers and tears met the floor this past week, God whispered one sentence to me: “In order to know true light, you have to know true darkness.”
My story is, by far and away, the epitome of those words. Let me share a little known fact about me: I am a human-trafficking survivor. I shouldn’t be here, I shouldn’t still be alive…but I am.
Why am I sharing this now? I want you to know that wherever you are in your life and whatever you are going through, no matter how deep the hole of hopelessness feels, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. There is someone else out there who knows real darkness too, and I’m here to tell you: there is still a great amount of light to be found! Because all that pain? It makes real love all the sweeter in the end.
Fear will tell us every time that hope and lasting love do not exist, but I keep believing in them anyway…because in every rising and setting sun, in every free and clear hug from a child and in every starry sky, I see a story, and I want in on the secret:
There is someone else out there that is bigger than we are, and He just might be up to something good.
